LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) strongly encourages California voters to vote “yes” to retain each incumbent Supreme Court and Court of Appeal justice appearing on the November 3, 2026, ballot.

All 64 justices, two serving on the California Supreme Court and 62 on Courts of Appeal statewide, have demonstrated the fitness, competence and integrity required to continue serving, with none having disciplinary issues before the Commission on Judicial Performance. LACBA’s endorsement reflects the vital role retention elections play in preserving both judicial independence and accountability to the public.

Additional Key Point Addressed:
• The upcoming election includes 64 appellate justices statewide, representing more than half of California’s appellate judiciary.
• Appellate justices serve 12-year terms and face retention elections rather than contested races; voters decide whether each justice should remain in office.
• Judicial nominees undergo extensive, nonpartisan vetting by the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation.
• Retention elections are intended to balance judicial independence and public accountability.
• LACBA also provides a Judicial Elections Evaluation Committee report on the remaining contested Los Angeles County Superior Court races.
